Snow Oar's Story

The patented Snow Oar was developed by someone with back issues who struggled to clear snow away with traditional short-handled wide-bladed snow shovels. The difference between Snow Oar and conventional snow shovels is that it can permit clearing snow and slush while in an upright posture while employing a smooth rowing-like motion (compare to the typical bend over scoop-lift-toss shoveling mode) and moving lighter loads giving better maneuverability. Its aim is to lessen the risk of fatigue and injury during snow clearing sessions.

The Snow Oar's smaller blade and long handle permits a user to better control the snow. Perfect for people of all ages and strengths, including seniors, kids, and small framed individuals.

U.S. Patent Nos. 11,859,357 (Jan 2024) and 12,460,362 (Nov 2025)

Snow Oars Versatile Design

Curved Blade with Side Walls and Deflector Flange

The ergonomically designed Snow Oar has a narrow shallowly curved blade with side walls and deflector flange that allows an upright user to easily drive the Snow Oar face-on into fallen snow and slush. A user can manually plow, propel, launch, or otherwise move snow laterally away from the user in a forward, sideways, or rearward direction with the intention of avoiding back strain, heavy lifting or bending conditions.

Elongated Handle Design

Compared to traditional snow shovels, the elongated handle provides leverage allowing a user to push, pull, and propel snow efficiently and effectively.

Knob-shaped Grip

The Snow Oar handle has a knob-shaped grip empowering a user to apply force comfortably and easily. This also protects against a user  inadvertently releasing or "throwing" the Snow Oar.

Other Ways to Use Snow Oar

Pusher Plowing

The implement can also be employed so the blade skims pavement at a shallow angle permitting a rapid pushing motion to send snow, slush, or ice ahead of the blade to a distant spot.

Skim Shovel Method

The skim shoveling method permits a user to skim a load of snow or slush, and using the elongated handle, flick it out of the way to a desired location.

Traditional Shoveling

Snow-Oar can also be employed in a traditional shoveling mode and can be used to clear open  or narrow spaces, wide or narrow steps, with or without parapet walls, rails, or other barriers.
